Mariner's Game, Sleepover, and Tara's baby Shower

One of the things I miss most about the States (and Seattle), is baseball. It's a true love in my life and someday I hope we can have season tickets to this very stadium. Awesome moment of the day - arriving a bit early and while pulling into a parking lot that was going to cost $20 (I know!), a woman flagged me to follow her to her FREEEE parking spot! She was leaving for the day, saw we needed parking and let us take her free spot - one block from the stadium. It was so divine!

We took my Dad who originally taught me about baseball but who has never, ever been to a professional game. As a Texan, and an American, at age 69, I'd say it's high-time this guy got to see a real game. :) Also, Norah's three years old now and knows nothing of baseball so I really wanted to take her to a game. What does she recall about the game now? Dippin' Dots.

One of my favorite places on this planet.
This lady was cracking us up. She had posters pinned up on the wall of right field (clearly a season ticket holder with a whhhooole system set up). She had "K" posters for each strike-out, 3 foot tall face-cut-outs of each player that she liked, this moose that was 4 1/2 feet tall and a fully sequined-baseball cap. You'd swear she was some 3rd generation Yankee fan or something but I must say, I really like that she's such a Mariner die-hard. Part of me aspires to be this woman, in my 50s. Oh yeah! She was even chewing sun flower seeds and spitting them into right field! That was the icing on the cake.

Simon's first baseball game (Marko's 2nd).

Yep, that's my Dad, at his first MLB game, making phone calls to the West Seattle Senior Center. That seems about right.
Random summer rain shower on the way out.
The next day Norah and I went down to Renton to Babcia's house (Polish grandma). :) This is Vickie & Trysh's mother and an adoptive Grandma to Norah. Here is Norah (3), Vickie's daughter Reese (2), Trysh's daughter Luna (4) and Tara's niece Tarin (4).
Throw back - we took them to the playground at my old elementary school! Bryn Mawr! The house I grew up in is 200 yards from this here playground. So surreal to stand there in this playground that I once thought was so massive and "cutting edge".
All of us childhood best friends - Vickie, Trysh, Tara and myself, all converged on Renton after living across the globe these last couple years. The occasion - the stars aligning (for one) and Tara's baby shower! Tara is 7 months pregnant and we were all able to be in Seattle at the same time for it. Vickie has just moved out of Turkey, en route to living in China. Trysh lives in Costa Rica, (Tara in Tacoma) and us, obviously, here in Ireland. It was so fun to all be together in this house where we all spent our childhood, each of us with our 2, 3, and 4 year old kids (and Tara's baby bump). :)

The Lidzbarksi women, all in the kitchen at once.
Pedicures!
 Absolutely priceless.

On sleepover night, we had them all in the bed (with popcorn) for Movie Night!

Reese's shoe - she managed to figure out that her feet fit perfectly through those (clearly) Reese-shoe-shaped holes.

Playing in the water for a minute. Coulon Beach (another place we spent a great deal of our childhood in Renton) - is actually a really great park. Their playground is top o' the line and the girls loved walking around.

TARGET! I was so, so beyond giddy to finally get to go to my favorite store on earth.
Slip 'n' Slide at Auntie Mimi and Uncle James'!

And finally, Saturday the day before we left, was Tara's baby shower!
I made melon ball skewers for the baby shower.

 The Mama-to-be
We did this funny, and creepy, baby shower game where you take pictures of each of them and then tape together which features you think the baby will get, from each parent.
Then Tara had to go around and pick her favorite.
