Again, Dun Leary
Walkin' in the Cuan
I love these signs. Yes, but WHAT is the speed limit? (I get that they're specifying Km vs. MPH but still...give an example.)
A deterrent to jumping onto the train tracks - as if you didn't have reason enough, not to.
The Old Dun Laoghaire Train stop. Now the DART station (modern building to the right)
On each of the piers in Dun Laoghaire, they have these diagram/maps. It gives a good visual for where we live though. We're at the base of the left/West Pier. Below is a close up picture of that.
Our Windows look directly down onto the "Old Coastguard station" (darker gray rectangle there) Notice, the Trader's Wharf (1855), Coal harbour "formerly used for importing Coal" and "Old Pier, constructed, 1767". Most interesting though is that King Laoghaire (Leary) had his ancient fort right here at this pier. Dun means Fort and this is where he constructed his. There's a monument to him here.
Oh I just took pictures of these mostly for my knowledge. =) So, the pier closest to us is a 1.92 mile round trip walk. And the pier on the East is 1.62 miles, out and back. I hope to run these many times but right now I just can't bring myself to given that I can't leave the house without more than 4 sweaters on and two pairs of socks.
