Quick Train to Dalkey - 1st Irish Castle

Spacey! Dalkey is only 3 stops South of us on the DART train. So only 2.80 EURO round trip!
Walking out of the DART station, you turn the corner and see this

 Sweet little boutiques and restaurants
Looking back up the hill toward the DART

I snapped this one on the train. Ok, no, I took this through the window of an art gallery. Probably not exxxactly allowed but that's ok.
Oh this? Yeah, this is just the most quaint and adorable book shop on Planet Earth. We went in and bought a map of Ireland to help us mark off the places we'd like to see.
Oh and next door is a little bakery and this ancient public library. No. No it couldn't get any cuter!
Dalkey Castle - Built in the 1300s AD! (We also learned that in 1816, granite from the Dalkey Quarry was used to build the Dun Laoghaire (then Kingstown) Harbour (where we live).
St. Begnet's Cemetery behind the Dalkey castle. DATES TO 1000 AD! And as early as 4500 BC (!!!) they have evidence of settlers on Dalkey Island (just down the road from here). We see the island from Dun Laoghaire.

Across the street from the main castle - these are the remains of Archibold's Castle.
This structure above the door was meant to be a security measure - if someone were attempting to breach the castle, they could just drop boiling water or oil from the hole that looked down at the 'front door'. Handy huh?  "Peep hole? Who needs one."
Cutie Pie Norah unknowingly touching a wall from the 1300s...
 Here I asked "Where's Daddy?"
 Cutie
And a view back at Dalkey Castle and the town. This is a magical little village and we will most certainly be back to visit.
