Oxford Part 2 - Natural History Museum, Christchurch (aka Hogwart's)

There were a couple shots of this Natural History Museum in the last post. We went back for a second visit so that Wayne could see it too.

Norah's Antiques - Had to take a picture of this place

Inside the Divinity School at the Bodleian Library (also, more importantly, this was the room where they filmed the Hogwart's infirmary scenes in Harry Potter) =)
On the ceiling, these are the initials of individuals who contributed to the building of the school.

One of the King's lock-boxes. Since they did not have safes, this was their version. It's a massive iron chest with multiple locking mechanisms so that no one key can open it. There are more than 10 keys needed to access the chest.
The many locks in the lid.

"Oh, Boris!" Such a sweet book!
Norah reading her new book in her new Easter sweater from Uncle Marko!

The staircase to the Eating Hall. The staircase Harry Potter walked. (more importantly)

Norah and her Mom in Harry Potters' Eating Hall (actually, we found out, they only replicated this room for the filming. But, it was an exact replica. Since the real Oxford students use this room for every meal, they weren't willing to have them displaced for the time it would take to shoot the movie.)

In one stained-glass window, way up high there are the Alice & Wonderland characters.

Students ACTUALLY eat in this room, at every meal. Tourists can only come in between mealtimes.

Christchurch Cathedral - Oxford (also one in Dublin, and a few other cities)

This was, by bar, the most intricate Stained-Glass Window I have ever seen. The scenes were incredible!

The Organ for Pake!

 Kirkpatrick 15.5.1915 - (May 15, 1915) and Captain E. A. Shaw 7.10.16 (October 7, 1916) Each chair has a name and date.
 Royal "pimp" cups
The Eagle and Child Pub, where C.S. Lewis, Tolkien and their other writing friends met, each week for 23 years to discuss their work. (1939-1962) The group called this pub "The Bird and Baby" instead.
They were known as The Inklings.
 Lewis
A picture of Tolkien at an Oxford graduation, the year before he died.
We were both very excited to sit where they sat. =)
We sat in the nook where they all used to meet. There are plaques on the wall with pictures of them and just above here is a piece of paper that they all signed with their credentials. C.S. Lewis' writing is on the very top and Tolkien at the very bottom.
Wayne was telling me this is the place where Tolkien and Lewis (great friends) discussed writing their big texts. They decided that Tolkien would write an epic novel about "Time" and Lewis would write one about "Space". We know which one Tolkien wrote - but the book Lewis wrote about "Space" is much less famous than his Narnia series. (Lewis' became known as the Space Trilogy - a science fiction series)
