A couple of videos to start us off - Here is Norah on the trampolines at Jardin des Tuileries. Also, "LOL" at the way Wayne chose to position his legs when he sat down there. hahaha!
The zipline at Jardin du Luxembourg!
I snapped this photo out of the taxi window because it's called "Rue Du 4 Septembre"- which is the birthday of 3 beloveds in my life. Vickie is Sept. 4th, her three year old daughter, Reese, shares the day and it is also my Sister-in-Law Kelly's birthday! Paris recognizes this and named a street after the enormity of it all.
The carousel at the base of the Sacré-Cœur
The 300 stairs leading up to (the base) of the Sacré-Cœur . You think you'll be at the basilica once you're up these, but then there are more stairs, and then another 300 additional steps if you want to climb to the top (which I did).
Another compulsion to capture a moment, with my face. :) Here I wanted to remember making the trek up these 300 stairs to the Sacré-Cœur holding a backpack, Norah's stroller on my back, my purse and Pooh Bear. (Wayne came up minutes after me but was waiting in line with Norah for the restroom at the base. He said I should just go ahead so here I went.)
I took this one because of the Yoda Bride and Groom picture, at the top.
An Irish Pub with a sign saying "You've just climbed 200 steps, you deserve and ice cold Irish Cider!" (And it was 22 degrees there (nearly 80) so I really believed that sign)
(Irish pub on the right there, an odd thing to see in Paris, coming from Ireland)
First Wayne was going to climb the steps to the top but once he went to the entrance and saw that they charged 6 Euro, he decided against it. Enter, ME. I found it to be a reasonable price. :)
So, up I went, by myself, ascending the 300 stairs to the top. (Soooo worth it, every step of the way)
Looking down at Montmartre to the left.
As you may be able to tell from the plethora or photos I've taken and posted here - this was my favorite place in Paris. I thought this vantage point (the highest point in Paris, in fact), was just incredible. No trip to Paris should miss this place.
Looking down at Wayne and Norah sitting below. They are at the very bottom, directly in front of the gargoyle jutting out from the roof. The picture below zooms in on them and gives you an idea of how high I really was.
So there they are, inside the fence, sitting against the black railing.
Just above the rectangular building is a hot-air balloon.
(edited slightly to show the Eiffel Tower in the background)
Can you tell why this was my favorite place in Paris??
Somewhat surprised to see these - Celtic designs?
Descending. I was pretty proud of myself - with my full on debilitating fear of heights, I did all of this on my own.
Norah and Uncle Dan, listening to the street performer below.
This song doesn't sound great but this woman did have a pretty good voice. Earlier she sang Amy Winehouse's, "Rehab", and it was great. That's the reason they went down to see her closer. This woman who stops to talk to Uncle Dan was chatting to him in French (about Norah dancing) and all he kept saying was "ahh..Mm hmm" and so.... she kept speaking...in French. It went on for a good minute or two and she never caught on that he didn't speak French. Pretty successful interaction, I'd say.
This was so stinkin' cute! Aunt Mary and Suzy successfully climbed the 300 steps up to the top of the Sacré-Cœur, AND went down to the crypt.
Walking from the Sacré-Cœur around the corner into Montmartre - the most iconic little Parisian neighborhood you ever saw. And there was a bonafide Starbucks, so Uncle Dan was in heaven.
Suzy in Montmartre
Vegans: avert your eyes and keep scrolling. This is Norah eating Frog Legs in Paris. Uncle Dan and Uncle Marko sort of goaded Wayne into ordering Escargot and frog legs as the most "eccentric" French food choices. Well, he did and he and Norah loved them both.
Leaving our little restaurant in Montmartre.
Leaving the outdoor cafes of Montmartre, and seeing the Sacré-Cœur at night.
