On New Year's Day, we decided to take a walk to Dalkey (3 miles south of us) and it was so lovely out, we decided to walk home too. We stopped to buy black eyed peas and ham for my family's traditional "good luck" meal on New Year's Day. Thankfully, this was a hit with Norah (you'll see the song below). While it's only the 5th of January, this is shaping up to be a beautiful month and we've spent every day of the New Year, outside. We are preparing to move to our new apartment this coming Friday (January 11th) and are enjoying our second January in Dublin.

This face is the reason this child gets muffins all the time. She'll look at me, with that face and say, "Let's just go to a cafe Mommy, and get me a treat".

Coolest old Porsche I have ever seen.
Then we walk to the back and see it has Texas Plates.... Huh?
Norah sings the blues (and kind of raps?) with Daddy.
Some lyrics I teased out: "We're going to Blackrock and we're singing here. (over and over) Slide and swing and ride all day and HAVE a hopscotch. You just have to do it when you follow the steps. How dee, How dee, How dee, How do you do it? How do you jump? ........Singing out, singin' and callin' out. Calling out all around the world. We're the Explorer Girls. Calling oooout, all around the world, we're the explorer Girls".... "Norah's with her dad and she's eating black eyed peas"
Wayne then went on his first ever Irish-mountain-hike with a few friends. They hiked to a place called Three Rock, in the Wicklow Mountains, about 1/2 an hour from our place. He said the feeling when you're out there is that you're in deep Irish wilderness and yet, you know you're only 25 minutes from town.
So, from the moutaintop, this is looking down at Dalkey Island (the place we walked to, from our house, on New Year's Day.)
Yesterday Norah and I walked to Seapoint (the beach near our place) and it was 14 degrees outside! (we had to take off our hats and gloves)
Another oddly warm January Day in Dublin. Here we are in light sweaters, beachcombing at Seapoint.
