Kilkenny and the Nore Valley Park (Farm)

Alright, well, Kilkenny isn't on the sign but that's where we're headed!
I know these don't turn out but Ireland is so gorgeous I can-NOT stop myself from taking pictures in the car. (or from putting them on the blog)

This was unreal! These are 'Travellers' (essentially Irish Gypsies or Pavee: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Travellers). Not only does this little girl have a fiery red head of hair, and not only is she barefoot, she is directing traffic around her father's horse carriage! She's telling this Passat in front of us to "GO AROUND!". So cute!!
And here she is with her little feet crossed! "My work is done here"
 "J.J. Cullen, Pork and Bacon"

 More Travellers

We got her a pre-birthday cupcake

This was the sweetest little sheep on earth!! We even named him Sweetie-Pie. Norah has been talking about him ever since. He was like a small puppy or a little kitty. He didn't want us to go!

See? He loved Norah and I was THIS close to stealing him.
Who wants a dog? I want a sheep!

Wayne thinks I'm a 'scaredy-cat' for not feeding the large livestock but I think it's just plain good-sense. If that thing gets scared/angry/excited (or any other emotion), I'm done for. Therefore, I think it's good common sense to keep my distance and just take pictures. =)

I caught her Mid-"Wheels on the Bus". Here she's singing "all through the TOWWWNNN"

This donkey was born 7 days ago!
How is that a 7-day-old-infant and HOW did that mommy-donkey birth that monster? It's half her size! Thank goodness human babies don't have the same proportions.
 The Kilkenny Castle

This field/yard/castle ground went for about 2 miles but you can't quite tell the scale here.

We bought Norah this tiny baseball bat and ball for her birthday. So, we brought it to Kilkenny and played on the grass for about 15 minutes (running, hitting the ball, Wayne chasing what I hit...) before I look over and see the small sign: "Please Stay Off the Grass". Oh... This is awkward. Let me just get our bags and tip-toe off this grass before I'm arrested by castle guards.... Luckily the next portion of grass was not forbidden and we cotinued playing there. =)

It's the EURO Cup and while it's only 4:30 pm, the pub is filled to the brim with men and women chanting Irish songs (even though the Irish weren't playing today). We could hear people yelling and singing from a couple blocks away.

The Black Abbey, Kilkenny

Overall, we LOVED Kilkenny. We've had several friends here tell us this is their favorite place in all of Ireland. Which is really saying a lot because this country is ridiculously beautiful. (Though we have also heard the same of Galway from several friends so that has also been high on the list. We had hoped to go out there earlier in the year but it keeps getting pushed out. Before the summer is through, we will see Galway!)
Norah had a fantastic time and this was a great way to celebrate her birthday weekend. Kilkenny is only an hour and a half south of us so it was an easy day trip and we hope to get back there several times.
