Arriving in Paris on the Champs-Elysees after 2 1/2 hours of metro rides from the airport. Still smiling though. This Day, Friday September 20th 2013, is the 7th anniversary of the day Wayne and I met. Yes I retain useless dates. This was the date of our graduate school orientation at Seattle University. Exciting stuff, I know. :)
"Hm....ok....we want the RER, ok, I can do this"
On our way from Charles De Gaulle Airport, into Paris.
Getting acquainted with the potential 'climbing structures' in our hotel room.
Our first glimpse of the Tour Eiffel
We returned from a walk and had a beautiful bowl of fruit waiting for us in our room. Top notch.
I love this series, below, because these were Norah attempting to take Wayne's photo, with his iPhone. The only thing was, the camera was faced toward her.
Floating gardens next to the riverbank
The public Chez Lounges. Unreal. (Next to these, just down the way, were also about 10 public hammocks)
Paris has the most incredible riverbank public spaces - this one here has bridges out to a barge with gardens on it and these benches/climbing gyms for toddlers continuing for at least a mile.
This was an "installation" of sorts on the Quay with potted plants (all of which were edible food). There were massive zucchini's, pomegranate trees (didn't know those grew on trees!), oranges, beans, etc.
What we found so incredible about Paris were these playgrounds nestled in the most random places. They are everywhere and they're all so creative. This was had a bit of a maritime theme and was on the Quay tucked in next to a bridge.
A quick stop for a coffee with my dear Uncle Marko. We are so Parisian.
So epic that this couple gets to have their wedding photos here. As Wayne said, "Ugh, everything's better here, French people suck!" (said in the most loving way possible)
Uncle Marko attended University in Germany back in the day so he would often take short trips to Paris on school breaks. He loves this city and was a great tour-guide to have along with us.
Just ecstatic to be in Paris
Ta- DAAAAAA!
A statue in remembrance of the Armenian genocide
After our walk (about 6 pm), Norah passed out. So a little pre-dinner nap it was.
Our lovely server Collette - this woman was the real-deal.
Aunt Mary and Norah playing hair salon at dinner
This is the first trip my Aunt/Uncles have taken together. These three siblings (only minus my mother), had never been in Europe together until this day. Paris is a good place to start.
Time for brushing teeth after our first half-Day in Paris was done. At this rate, I'll be doing about 65 blog posts for our 4 1/2 days in Paris. Bear with me, I'll work on using less photos. For now, Bon Nui (Good Night in French). Yes, I'm a real language-whizz.
