Bray Head (still in Dublin)
Bray Head Hike (I stayed home with Norah on this day, who very randomly threw up that morning, and never again). Odd day but thankful it wasn't a real virus.
A gorgeous day up on Killiney Hill
At my gym/spa I won some raffle which gave me a 50 Euro gift certificate - well, then they also had a "bring a friend for free" day and so.....here we are, at the spa, going in for massages. She might kill me for putting this up but it was an AWESOME afternoon.
Wayne's Dad is under the impression that you can't just take a picture of a small, miraculous plant growing in a stone wall, because if someone can't tell the SCALE of it, it's wasted. So, he likes to insert his index finger, so the beauty of the small plant is not wasted on some viewer that can't tell how small it really is. See? Isn't it better this way?
Wayne driving us to the farthest point in Ireland, from our house. And his Dad, a truck driver of 30+ years, adjusting to being on the left hand side of the car, with no steering wheel.
Inside a golf course, just past Limerick. Adare I believe.
Our lovely house for the week in Murreagh, County Kerry
Norah just loves helping her Nana to cook.
Norah's room upstairs
"traffic jam" coming into town
View from the kitchen out to the beach - 3 minutes' walk
Norah's kite from Auntie Sarah - this is as high as we got it.
Just past here, these rocks go much higher. Well, Nana and Norah were exploring and I heard Nana slip and fall, only to turn and see Norah tumble and fall straight onto her forehead and flip over on the rocks. More than a little scary. You'll see the injuries in a few photos....
We walked home, cleaned up the scrapes and immediately iced the giant blue 'goose-egg' on her forehead. Poor baby. That night I woke her up every hour or so...just to be safe.
We gave her ice cream to distract her from the icing of the head.
Norah, after what appears to be, her first bare-knuckle boxing match
At the Mt. Brandon Trail head - the tallest mountain on the Dingle Peninsula (9th tallest in Ireland). Wayne and his Dad made it more than half way up, in sandals...These two cannot be persuaded to be safe.
Dunbeg Fort (which we're pretty sure means: Fort-beg Fort given that Dun is "fort" in Irish. Right?)
This was built in 500 B.C.
These people got the right car!! I saw this couple driving later on. One can only hope it was their rental for their honeymoon and that they're not this awesome all the time.
The coolest touring toddler ever.
Slea Head, County Kerry
We went and swam at the beach in the top right corner on our last day. It was as amazing as it looks.
COME ON!! Is this real?! Not to mention it was close to 30 degrees and we're in shorts and sandals with the A/C on in the car!
County Kerry is.....magggggnificent. Keep in mind too, every one of my photos are unedited. These are straight from the camera... now imagine if I "photo-shopped" this. Your eyes might just stop working.
It was so hot, this farmer had to come out and hose off his horse. (also this is looking out at the Great Blasket Island - see next posts. One of the most interesting and breathtaking places I've ever been)
"Are you sure this is Ireland? The same one I saw in January??"
Great photo of Nana
The very special - Kerry Dairy cows. Sweet as can be.
Wayne's Dad took this. What I love about it is you get a glimpse into his mind while taking a photo. There's my face, and then THAT view so how does he frame the photo? I think it's perfectly proportioned. (and I'm a little terrified here because there was a 200 foot, sheer drop, onto jagged rocks.)
Each one of those boulders are the size of a 2,000 square-foot house. No joke.
Nana, keeping her center of gravity, low to the ground, out on the 300 foot, sheer cliff.
Notice we're not standing out on the edge. We decided to sit, while gently (but ever so strongly) holding on to the earth.
Family Christmas card with the Dairy-lurker in the back.
We fed these friends for awhile.
